Former U.S. Mayor Pleads Guilty to “Just Being a Very Enthusiastic Fan of Beijing”.

Chinese Communist Party propaganda, influence and infiltration is ubiquitous, worldwide.  One of the most egregious examples of how far Beijing is willing to go in its effort to “Sino-Form” the planet was Mayor Alice Guo of Bamban, Pampanga, in the Philippines.  Most assumed, at first, that she was an anomaly, a phenomenon that could have only occurred in a backward, corrupt political system.  Now, however, the world is shocked to see virtually the same thing happening in the Unites States, one of the most closely controlled governance environments on the planet.  The story of Eileen Wang, former Mayor of Arcadia, California, is a cautionary message to those who believe such things could never take place in their 1st world backyards.

    A Real Kung Fu Hustle

In a stunning development that left dim sum restaurants across the West Coast in absolute chaos, former Arcadia, CA Mayor Eileen Wang, 58, pleaded guilty in May to acting as an unregistered agent of the Chinese government – a crime that prosecutors described as “basically running a WeChat fan club for the CCP with official talking points.”

Wang, who stepped down as mayor after federal charges dropped like a bad batch of panda express, admitted in court that she and her then-fiancé Mike Sun operated the “U.S. News Center,” a media outlet so unbiased and independent that it took direct orders from Chinese officials on what to publish.

Their greatest hit? An essay vigorously refuting those pesky human rights reports about Xinjiang, where ethnic Uighurs (or Uyghurs) have been persecuted, detained and used as forced labor for the past decade. Because nothing says “California Dreamin’” like passionately defending a murderous, dictatorial government on social media, AND being paid to do it.

    Uncle Xi is Watching

According to the plea agreement, Wang followed encrypted instructions like a seasoned spy, except instead of stealing nuclear secrets, she was allegedly pushing articles favorable to Beijing that were disseminated to Asian-American populations throughout the US. Sources say her password was probably something secure like “Xi4eva2020.”

“This is a victory for transparency,” said one federal prosecutor. “We can’t have elected officials secretly advancing foreign interests. This isn’t like maple syrup lobbyists from Canada. That’s fine.”

Arcadia residents expressed mixed reactions. “She fixed the potholes, kept property values high, and only occasionally made us question if our city council meetings were being live-streamed to the CCP,” said longtime resident Gary Thompson, who admitted he mostly voted for her because she seemed “very organized.”

    California Schemin’

Political analysts are calling this “the most California scandal ever,” surpassing even that time a Los Angeles councilmember got caught on tape complaining about traffic while driving in the carpool lane. Wang reportedly moved to Arcadia in the early 2000s after being born in Sichuan Province – a background that prosecutors found “not suspicious at all” until the encrypted messages started flowing.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 6. Wang faces up to 10 years in prison, though legal experts believe she may receive time served plus mandatory viewing of uncensored documentaries about Tibet and Tiananmen Square as community service.

    The Chow-Chow Ate my Homework

In a statement, Wang’s lawyers said their client “deeply regrets not filing the proper paperwork” and looks forward to “spending more time with family and fewer encrypted WeChat group chats titled ‘Propaganda Ideas – Do Not Forward.'”

Meanwhile, local conspiracy theorists are already claiming this is all a deep state plot to distract from the real issue: why every new housing development in Arcadia comes with free hot pot delivery.

When reached for comment, a cardboard cutout of Winnie the Pooh standing outside city hall simply smiled and said nothing. As always.  Alice Guo, eat your noodles out.
